About CA Foundation
The CA Foundation course is the entry-level examination conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). It serves as the first step for individuals aspiring to become Chartered Accountants (CAs). The CA Foundation course was introduced by ICAI as part of the revised CA curriculum, replacing the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) in 2017.
Eligibility
Candidates may register for the Foundation Course after passing the Class 10th Examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government or the State Government as equivalent thereto.
Exemption
CA Foundation is exempt for Graduates, post-graduates, and students having equivalent degrees. Commerce graduates with 55% and others with 60% marks can take direct admission for the CA Intermediate.

Registration Date For Admission To CA Foundation Course
Students who want to pursue CA Foundation Courses have to register online for the course. Last Date of Registration (admission) for CA Foundation Course with ICAI for May and November Examination
- For January term examination- 1st Sep of the previous year
- For the May term examination- 1st Jan of the same year
- For September term examination- 1st May of the same year
Registration Fee for CA Foundation
The registration Fee for the CA Foundation Course is Rs.9000 and CA Foundation course registration will be valid for four years. Revalidation is not permitted at the Foundation level.

Passing Criteria
A student is declared to have passed the Foundation examination, if he/she obtains at one sitting a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all the papers.
